Ealing 3 Bridges CC Sunday Team v Northwood Town C.C on Sat 20 Apr 2013 at 13:30
Ealing 3 Bridges CC Won by 6 wkts
Match report
Three Bridges registered their first victory of season 2013, after cruising to a six wicket win against Northwood Town Cricket Club on Saturday.
Three Bridges bowled out Northwood town for 125 in 38 overs. This was due to some very impressive bowling from Eldho who took 5 wickets for 14 in 10 overs and totally ram shackled the middle order and tail enders of Northwood Town CC.
While it was quite a strong showing by Northwood town’s opening bowlers, credit would have to go to Faisal Kashmiri and Qasim Khan for capitalising on the chances offered them and allowing Three Bridges to close out the chase of 125 with twenty overs to spare. Both stayed unbeaten at 51* and 60* respectively.
Three Bridges rejigged their batting line-up, reuniting Faisal and Qasim in the middle order, and the pair went on to knock a century 5th wicket partnership - they added 118 at almost 8 runs an over.
Faisal’s style suited Qasim. They complemented each other very well. As it is, Faisal took a lot of pressure off Qasim and his job was to give him more strike. His batting also allowed Qasim to play freely and control the innings. They kept talking to each other and did not give in to the pressure created by the poor start by the top order.
After the top order collapse, three bridges were left 4 down for just 8 runs in four overs. However, Faisal/Qasim pair clicked, slamming 118 in 16 overs and batted through the rest of the innings. Qasim showed how passionate he was about performing well. There is a lot of fire in his belly.
Northwood Town’s bowlers shattered the opening order of Three Bridges with the line the opening bowlers delivered at the start. The opening batsmen Rinson was given a controversial caught behind by the umpire on the third ball of Three Bridges innings. The umpire failed to distinguish between the deflection of the pad and the bat and gave him out caught behind. While Sunny Raza Khan showed some potential on the pitch with two beautiful pull shots to each of the opening bowlers, Arun Joseph on the other hand was bowled out on the second ball he faced from the left handed opening fast bowler Sajid. Sunny followed Arun shortly with a poor cross batted shot and lost his wicket by tossing a lollypop to the mid wicket fielder. The skipper Paresh came to the crease but dint last any longer and was bowled out first ball.
However, this was the end of joyride for Northwood town. Faisal and Qasim pair did not succumb to the pressure and drove the team to victory.
