Swamibapa CC v Ealing 3 Bridges Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI on Sat 20 Jul 2013 at 13:00
Ealing 3 Bridges Cricket Club Won by 131 Runs
Match report
THREE BRIDGES BEAT SWAMIBAPA BY 131 RUNS
( E3BCC 243/9 in 55 overs - Larif 88* Dusty 65 SBCC - 112 Allout in 39 overs Aneeq 4/12, Stanlay 2/24)
Following the downfall in the latter half of the 1st leg of the league, Three Bridges bounced back with a 131 run victory over Swamibapa CC.
The home team(Swamibapa) won the toss and elected to field. Three bridges did not have a smooth start and at one point were 3 wickets down for 44. Dusty and Larif steadied the ship by batting through the major part of the innings. Skipper Larif lead from the front with an impressive 88* ( 4x8 2x6) run knock. He came in when the team was 72 for 4 and batted till the end. He was well supported by Dusty with his innings of 65( 4x11) which lasted for 36 overs.
Three Bridges were struggling with poor scoring rate. After 42 overs, they managed to put only 146 runs on the board with a run rate of 3.3. However, Larif and Anis changed the gear at the right time and added 64 runs in the next 7 overs to push the scoring rates close to 4.2 . They eventually scored 243 in the alloted 55 overs.
With a reasonably good target set for Swamibapas, Three Bridges bowlers put a fairly impressive show. Young lads Stanlay (2Wkt) and Dishan (1Wkt) striked out the openers while Aneeq bagged 4 wickets for 12 runs and rattled the middle order of the home team. However, it took a while for the team to celebrate the victory as it took nearly 18 overs to send the tailenders back to pavillion.
A good victory in the end for Three Bridges which should certainly push the morale higher for the rest of the league matches.
A big thank you to Johnny Maraj who voluntarily umpired for close to 95 overs and to Cletus who drove close to 80 miles to and from in order to support the team throughout.
Highlights of the Day:
Flying Ganda!!!! Larif flew across the pitch to stop a single.
Shabash scaring the keeper after the last ball of the innings for an overthrow ( innings was over and the umpires and players were walking back) .. Hilarious
Larif congratulating Anis on hitting a boundary by saying " unlucky unlucky" .. why??? .. to be continued... ;-)
Splendid diving catch by Arun Joseph in the slip position of the bowling of Aneeq.
Arun Joseph continues his negotiation with Johny for giving him out LBW. As it stands, Arun has a losing case in hand. Johny is least concerned. :-D The case continues...
Larif registered his first victory as a skipper
