Ealing 3 Bridges Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Hendon Egdware on Sat 29 Aug 2009 at 12.00
Ealing 3 Bridges Cricket Club Won by 160 runs
Match report
Dear All
Just a quickie ,the Brdiges team pulled of another glorious win over Hendon and Edgware yesterday which means the final will be played on Saturday either home or away depending on the draw. Well done to the team and the Club!
The Bridges team batted first and posted a challenging score 325 for 8 (45 overs) thanks to the skipper who finsihed on 165 not out and Hans who also contributed with a half century. The Visitors, Hendon and Edgware came out predictably with guns blazing, this however ,was short lived as Kalyan joined the party taking 4 quick wickets in his first 6 overs. The Hendon & Edgware team were bowled out for 163. It is suffice to say the demise of the opposition was ,the rather large total posted by the Bridges team and the fact, led by the captain ,the entire Hendon & Edgware team played with only one attacking stroke ( a pull to cow corner). One wonders on the standard of the competition!
A special thanks to Kalyan`s wife and Mother-in-law for the wonderful tea provided! "thats what I am talking about"
A big thank you to Ross who leaves the mother country to return back to Oz on Tuesday, I am sure everyone will agree you were an asset to the club and made an impression on everyone even though it was only for one season. It may be worthwhile pondering on Who will score, umpire, carry out drinks and bat and bowl for us now without so much of a complain ? I will have to pontificate on this one. I do hope Ross will remain a "Friend of the club" for as long as we exist. Everyone is Welcome to the Common Rooms" Ealing this evening at 9pm to wish Ross Bon Voyage!
